Absent a written agreement to the contrary, our fees are based on the time we spend and the expenses we incur in performing services. Most billings are based upon hourly rates. While hourly rates may be adjusted from time to time and the fee schedule is subject to change periodically, current rates are:
- Attorneys - $200 to $250 per hour
- Accountants - $135 per hour
- Senior Legal Assistants - $130 per hour
- Legal Assistants - $60 to $75 per hour
Time billed includes personal conferences, research, drafting, editing, review, correspondence, telephone conferences, travel to and from meetings or conferences on your behalf, and similar time relating to your file or matter. All time is recorded in tenths of an hour. Please note that we do have different rate structures for different types of work.
In addition, we add expenses to your bill as incurred. Examples include:
- Travel
- Filing fees, recording fees, and similar charges
- Publication costs
- Overnight mail or special delivery charges
- Large copy jobs
Bills are provided periodically, generally once each month. Our billing cycle normally runs from the 15th to the 15th with billing statements mailed out prior to the end of month. All bills are payable upon receipt. Any balance due over thirty days will be subject to a late charge of 1.5% each month. In addition, failure to pay any balances due will be grounds for withdrawal from further representation.
If a retainer is required, we will either apply the retainer against your bill or hold all, or a portion, of the retainer as a security deposit until the conclusion of the matter, at which time it will be refunded, less the amount of any bills then outstanding and unpaid.
